SEE SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING: CONFRONTING HARM FOR WOMEN LEADERS
WHEN: DECEMBER 5 2018, 7-9PM
WHERE: UFCW 1518, 350 COLUMBIA STREET NEW WESTMINSTER
COST: $29 (INCLUDES DINNER)
We are so excited to be collaborating with Women on Wednesdays to bring you this workshop!
When someone says something or acts in a way that is harmful to our community's values, we often don't know if or how we can react. In this workshop, we'll examine some of the tools that women in leadership roles can use to draw attention to someone's harmful behavior, or draw the community's attention to harm. What is a call in? What is a call out? What other ways can we confront harm? When is each method of confronting harm appropriate and what are the risks associated with each? In this workshop we'll explore the ways we can have these difficult discussions in compassionate and community building ways.
This workshop is reserved for women-identified, transgender and non-binary folks.
FEMINISM UNBOUND: RESISTING FEAR AND EXCLUSION IN OUR MOVEMENTS
WHEN: JANUARY 10, 2O19
WHERE: VANCOUVER, VENUE TBD
COST: BY DONATION
FACE is partnering with a number of anti-violence, inclusive, feminist organizations and activists to offer this event.
We will be gathering on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh First Nations, on which the majority of us are uninvited guests.
With a rise in fascism around the world, hate groups are finding ways to mask their beliefs and cloak their hateful rhetoric in a smokescreen of progressive language. Intersectional solidarity is our only way forward, with the honouring of all voices and bodies that face hate, marginalization, and erasure.
Join us for a night of radical discussion and feminist praxis where we will unpack the socially sanctioned hate that our communities face on a daily basis; speak to practices of accountability; and form bonds between us. This event will focus its attention on complex issues facing trans folks, sex workers, and other marginalized communities.
All feminists and allies welcome!
FACE Your Professional and Personal Relationships: Setting Healthy Boundaries
WHEN: FEBRUARY 2019
COST: $29 (sliding scale)
Life is full of challenging people and difficult personalities. For centuries, we have been conditioned to stay silent and accept unwelcome behavior. Even though we've said "enough is enough!", advocating for ourselves at work and at home can still feel impossible.
What do you do if you are being harassed or bullied at work? How do you identify and avoid toxic friendships and relationships? This workshop will focus on developing skills to advocate for yourself (and others) at work and in life. We will look at warning signs, personality types and triggers, communication techniques and boundary setting. Additionally, we will discuss legal and therapeutic resources.
