Than you for your interest in joining FACE BC’s 2019 Board of Directors!

If you are not interested in a director role, please check our Volunteer Opportunities page for other opportunities or click here for our GENERAL APPLICATION.

FACE BC is gearing up for a big year! We are launching a brand new outreach project, creating consultation and facilitation services to sell to outside businesses, and increasing our presence across the province with events outside of the lower mainland.

2019 Major Projects:

  • Research, develop and launch our BC-wide workplace violence and harassment prevention outreach program for high-school age youth.

  • 2019 FACE Your Career Conference

  • 4 lower-mainland based workshops

  • 4 workshops based in areas outside of the lower mainland

  • Non Profit experience an asset, however, keen interest and desire to learn is far more important.

  • Ability to communicate with diplomacy and work as a team.

  • Special consideration will be given to those who represent diverse communities or bring unique lived experience to the table.

  • Able to commit to 1 year term and attend 6 meetings per year (can attend remotely)

  • Assist in fundraising, event promotion and spreading the word about FACE BC

  • Interest in event planning and ability to attend majority of FACE BC events.

  • Protection of Public Interest: assist in writing bylaws and policies, ensuring compliance with legal requirements, evaluate and support Executive Director. FACE BC is fully insured; however, we recommend adding Directors and Operators coverage to your existing home or car insurance for approx. $2-4/month. Read more about personal liability HERE.

Do you volunteer with other organizations or have you volunteered in the past? What drives you in your current passion projects, hobbies, your studies or your career? What makes you get up in the morning and do what you do (or what are you looking for if you don't have something that drives you?) Feel free to list resume-type experience here, but please know we are not basing our decision on academic or professional achievement. Regardless of whether you are a student, an artist, on mat leave, are just starting your career or 30 years into it, you bring a unique perspective and tremendous value to the table.
Given our plans for 2019, is there anything you are particularly good at, or think you would absolutely crush if given the opportunity? Examples include: SPEAKING: facilitating workshops, presentations, representing the organization in the media, training other volunteers. LIVED EXPERIENCE: We are founded by women of colour, those with chronic pain and disability. We also represent non profit and corporate workers. These attributes mean we negotiate the world and work differently, and can offer a unique perspective to all aspects of what FACE BC does. CREATING CONTENT: research, editing, desk top publishing, blogging. EVENTS: contacting potential speakers, hosting in a different town, helping with food and beverage prep, access to printing supplies or the ability to help transport materials to venues. FINANCES: bookkeeping or accounting experience, understanding payroll as an entrepreneur or non profit worker. 2019 YOUTH WORKPLACE HARASSMENT PREVENTION PROJECT SKILLS: experience working with youth, understanding of employment law, mental health experience (do you understand the impact of sexual harassment and assault?) media production or acting experience, connection to the BC school system or other folks of influence who could help push our program?
We will be conducting interviews between October 25 - November 30 2019. Please let us know if there are any days/times during this period that you are unavailable.

We thank everyone for their application. We will contact everyone who applies to let them know if they have been selected for an interview no later than November 30 2019.
